Summer Music by the Lake

Dear Fellow Alumns,

The MIT Club of Switzerland is pleased to announce its summer social event for MIT club members, invited clubs, their families and guests. Please join us for:

  • a boat trip from Zürich’s Bürkliplatz to Stäfa

al fresco lunch at a well-regarded lakeside restaurant

    afternoon concert given by a top professional pianist.

A perfect opportunity to meet friends old and new before we all go away for our summer activities. The full event details can be found copied below. Registration for MIT Alumni and their guests opens Monday April 8th at noon.

    11.30 ZÜRICHSEE CRUISE

    We meet at Zürich’s Bürkliplatz Pier for 11.30 boat to Stäfa (or 12.42 S7 train from Hbf if time limited). Short bus transfer or walk to Villa Sunneschy.

    13.20 LUNCH AT VILLA SUNNESCHY

    Menu:

    Starter
    Summer salad with melon, rocket, tomatoes and Parmesan with balsamic dressing

    Main course
    Glazed corn-fed chicken breast with Port Jus on Mediterranean vegetables with roast potatoes

    Dessert
    Panna Cotta with fresh berries

    Mineral water, coffee, tea etc included. Wine at discretion.

    Large open grassed area suitable for a lake swim or ball games after lunch!

    15.30 We make the short walk to the Forum Kirchbühl, Stäfa (extensive views over the Zürichsee).

    16.00 PIANO CONCERT

    Els Biesemans, an acclaimed Belgian professional pianist living in Switzerland, will introduce and play piano sonatas by CPE Bach, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.

    Frau Biesemans will trace the development of the piano sonata from the transition from the Baroque to the more modern empfindsamer Stil (sensitive style) in the late eighteenth century and its full flowering into the classical style of Mozart and Beethoven “All you have ever wanted to know about piano music but were afraid to ask!”

    Frau Biesemans will play on a historic instrument from her personal collection.

    17.30 (approx.) CONCLUDING APĒRO

    Return to Zürich on 19.03 boat (Bürkliplatz 20.25) or take S7 train every 30 minutes (24 minutes to Hbf).

    Who can register:

    Registration for MIT Club alumni and their guests/family opens Monday April 8th at noon.

    MIT Alumni who have paid their MIT Club of Switzerland membership dues have a discounted registration fee. If you have not paid your dues, then we encourage you to here http://mitclub.ch/?page_id=678

    Registration for the following business schools will be open May 13th: LSE, ETH, Oxbridge, ESADE, INSEAD, IMD, Bocconi, Columbia, IE, HSG

    TRAVEL
    Travel from Zürich to Stäfa and return by boat (or train): own expense. A ZVV 9-Uhr Tageskarte (CHF 13.00 with Halbtax) allows unlimited travel by train, bus and boat within the ZVV area. CHF 5.00 supplement for boat travel (payable on boat).
